Author Guidelines

NUSACIVICA: Journal of Society and Culture is a peer-reviewed and open-access scholarly journal published twice a year. The journal welcomes original research articles, literature reviews, conceptual papers, case studies, critical analyses, and book reviews related to social sciences, cultural studies, language, communication, humanities, citizenship studies, community development, and related interdisciplinary fields.

Focus and Scope

The journal accepts manuscripts in, but not limited to, the following areas:

Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal for consideration.

Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts must pass a plagiarism screening process using Turnitin or equivalent similarity-detection software. NUSACIVICA allows a maximum similarity index of 20%, excluding references, quotations, and properly cited materials. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned to the author for revision before further consideration.

General Manuscript Requirements

To be considered for publication, manuscripts should:

  • Be written in Bahasa Indonesia, English, or Arabic.
  • Consist of approximately 6,000–10,000 words.
  • Be prepared using Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format.
  • Use Times New Roman, 12 pt font.
  • Use 1.15 line spacing on A4-size paper.
  • Follow the journal template and formatting guidelines.

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Editors reserve the right to edit manuscripts for language, clarity, consistency, and formatting without altering the substance of the work.

Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should consist of the following sections:

  1. Title
  2. Author(s)’ Name, Affiliation, and Email Address
  3. Abstract
  4. Keywords
  5. Introduction
  6. Method
  7. Findings and Discussion
  8. Conclusion
  9. Acknowledgement (if applicable)
  10. References

Title

  • The title should be concise, informative, and academically appropriate.
  • The title should not exceed 16 words.
  • The title must accurately reflect the content of the manuscript.
  • The title should be written in bold and capitalized appropriately.
  • Titles should be provided in the language of the manuscript and in English.

Author(s)' Name, Affiliation, and Email Address

  • Authors’ names should be written without academic titles.
  • For multiple authors, names should be separated by commas.
  • Institutional affiliation and email address must be provided.
  • ORCID ID is strongly encouraged.

Abstract

The abstract should briefly explain:

  • The background of the study;
  • Research objectives;
  • Research methods;
  • Major findings; and
  • The significance or contribution of the study.

The abstract should not exceed 250 words.

Abstracts must be provided in:

  • English; and
  • The language used in the manuscript (Bahasa Indonesia or Arabic, where applicable).

Keywords

Keywords should consist of 3–5 terms that represent the main concepts discussed in the article.

Introduction

The introduction should include:

  • Background of the study;
  • Relevant literature review;
  • Research gap and novelty;
  • Research objectives; and
  • Brief explanation of the research method.

Authors should clearly demonstrate the originality and contribution of the manuscript.

Method

This section should explain:

  • Research design;
  • Data sources;
  • Data collection techniques;
  • Data analysis procedures; and
  • Ethical considerations where applicable.

Findings and Discussion

This section should present:

  • Research findings;
  • Data analysis;
  • Responses to research questions;
  • Comparison with previous studies; and
  • Theoretical or conceptual interpretation of the findings.

Tables and figures should be integrated into the discussion where relevant.

Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the principal findings of the study and explain their theoretical, practical, or policy implications.

Recommendations for future research may also be included.

Acknowledgement

Acknowledgements may be provided for institutions, funding agencies, collaborators, research assistants, or individuals who contributed significantly to the research.

References

References should:

  • Include at least 25 scholarly sources.
  • Consist primarily of journal articles, books, and other academic publications.
  • Preferably include recent publications from the last 10 years.
  • Follow APA Style, 7th Edition.
  • Be arranged alphabetically.

The use of reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is strongly recommended.

Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures should be clearly numbered consecutively.
  • Table titles should appear above the table.
  • Figure captions should appear below the figure.
  • Tables and figures should be referenced within the text.
  • Images should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

Upon acceptance for publication, authors retain copyright of their work while granting NUSACIVICA: Journal of Society and Culture the right of first publication.

Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, adaptation, and reproduction in any medium, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author and source.
