Author Guidelines
MANTIQIA: Journal of Islamic Philosophy
MANTIQIA: Journal of Islamic Philosophy is a peer-reviewed and open-access scholarly journal published twice a year. The journal welcomes original research articles, literature reviews, conceptual papers, critical essays, analytical studies, and book reviews related to Islamic philosophy, philosophy of religion, Islamic intellectual traditions, and related interdisciplinary fields.
Focus and Scope
The journal accepts manuscripts in, but not limited to, the following areas:

- Kalam and Islamic Theology
- Islamic Ethics and Moral Philosophy
- Islamic Epistemology
- Islamic Metaphysics
- Islamic Political Philosophy

- Philosophy of Science in Islamic Civilization
- Islamic Educational Philosophy
- Sufism and Philosophical Mysticism
- Classical and Modern Muslim Thinkers
- Contemporary Islamic Thought
- Islamic Civilization and Intellectual Heritage

Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal for consideration.
Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts must pass a plagiarism screening process using Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent similarity-detection software.
MANTIQIA allows a maximum similarity index of 20%, excluding references, quotations, and properly cited materials. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be returned to the author for revision before further consideration.
General Manuscript Requirements
To be considered for publication, manuscripts should:
- Be written in English.
- Consist of approximately 6,000–10,000 words.
- Be prepared using Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format.
- Use Times New Roman, 12 pt font.
- Use 1.15 line spacing on A4-size paper.
- Follow the journal template and formatting guidelines.
All submissions undergo a double-blind peer-review process. Editors reserve the right to edit manuscripts for language, clarity, consistency, and formatting without altering the substance of the work.
Manuscript Structure
The manuscript should consist of the following sections:
- Title
- Author(s)’ Name, Affiliation, and Email Address
- Abstract
- Keywords
- Introduction
- Method
- Findings and Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgement (if applicable)
- References
Title
- The title should be concise, informative, and academically appropriate.
- The title should not exceed 16 words.
- The title must accurately reflect the content of the manuscript.
- The title should be written in bold and capitalized appropriately.
- The title must be written in English.
Author(s)' Name, Affiliation, and Email Address
- Authors’ names should be written without academic titles.
- Institutional affiliation and email address must be provided.
- ORCID ID is strongly encouraged.
Abstract
The abstract should briefly explain:
- Background of the study;
- Research objectives;
- Research methods;
- Major findings;
- Significance and contribution of the study.
The abstract should not exceed 250 words and must be written in English.
Keywords
Keywords should consist of 3–5 terms representing the principal concepts discussed in the manuscript.
Introduction
The introduction should include:
- Background of the study;
- Relevant literature review;
- Research gap and novelty;
- Research objectives;
- Brief explanation of the research method.
Authors should clearly demonstrate the originality and scholarly contribution of the manuscript.
Method
This section should explain:
- Research design;
- Sources of data or primary texts;
- Data collection procedures;
- Analytical framework;
- Methods of interpretation;
- Ethical considerations where applicable.
For philosophical and conceptual studies, authors should clearly describe the philosophical approach, analytical method, hermeneutical framework, comparative method, textual analysis, or critical methodology employed.
Findings and Discussion
This section should present:
- Research findings;
- Philosophical analysis;
- Responses to research questions;
- Comparison with previous studies;
- Critical evaluation of theories and concepts;
- Intellectual, ethical, religious, and philosophical implications of the findings.
Tables, figures, conceptual diagrams, and illustrations may be included where relevant.
Conclusion
The conclusion should summarize the principal findings of the study and explain their theoretical, philosophical, educational, social, or practical implications.
Recommendations for future research may also be included.
Acknowledgement
Acknowledgements may be provided for institutions, funding agencies, research centers, libraries, collaborators, research assistants, or individuals who contributed significantly to the research.
References
References should:
- Include at least 25 scholarly sources.
- Consist primarily of peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, and reputable scholarly publications.
- Preferably include recent publications from the last 10 years while allowing the use of classical philosophical and religious texts essential to the study.
- Follow APA Style (7th Edition).
- Be arranged alphabetically.
The use of Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is strongly recommended.
Tables and Figures
- Tables and figures should be clearly numbered consecutively.
- Table titles should appear above the table.
- Figure captions should appear below the figure.
- Tables and figures should be referenced within the text.
- Images and diagrams should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

Upon acceptance for publication, authors retain copyright of their work while granting MANTIQIA: Journal of Islamic Philosophy the right of first publication.
Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, adaptation, and reproduction in any medium, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author and source.
